We reluctantly say goodbye to our much-loved Chaplain, Ellen Moiselle, after more than twenty years of dedicated service

As HCK prepares to say goodbye to our much-loved Chaplain, Ellen Moiselle, after more than twenty years of dedicated service, we do so with enormous gratitude for the care, compassion and faith in action she brought to every corner of school life.

Since joining the school in 2005, she has been at the heart of the spiritual life of HCK, quietly shaping the experiences and memories of generations of students, staff and families. Her work always reflected the values of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus: faith, joy, compassion and social justice… values she lived out each day through her ministry and presence in our school community.

Throughout her years in HCK, she led and inspired countless initiatives: from the Chaplaincy Teams and liturgies, SVP, Hygiene Appeal, Meals on Wheels, India Immersion and many other Social Action projects, all of which encouraged students to look outward with empathy and courage.

She speaks fondly of so many special moments over the years: the renovation and blessing of the Prayer Room; climbing Croagh Patrick and the overnight retreats in Dromantine; First Communions, visits to Oxford and Mayfield with the Sisters; launching the House System; and preparing for and celebrating the 70th Anniversary of HCK.

She also delighted in the unique joy of witnessing two weddings celebrated in the school chapel… a beautiful reminder of the lasting connection so many feel to HCK.

Her love for the Chapel, itself is unmistakable. She takes enormous pride in its stained glass windows and devoted significant time researching its history while working on the Chapel Book from her office tucked behind the altar..  a space that became synonymous with welcome, listening and kindness and ample cups of tea!

Her creativity and enthusiasm also extended to projects such as the Cornelia Connelly board game and her close collaboration with the RE and Music departments, bringing faith to life in engaging and meaningful ways.

Many past pupils will also remember the HCK Pilgrim and Camino walks through Killiney and Dublin… opportunities for reflection, friendship and connection that left a lasting impression on all who took part.

Her final project was sheparding our school to success in the AIB Future Sparks School Impact Awards, a national initiative which recognises schools across Ireland that are making a meaningful difference in their communities through service, leadership and social action. Our entry was called “Actions Not Words – Small Sparks Fan Flames.” Inspired by Cornelia Connelly's vision for education and our understanding that small acts of good work can reach further than we ever imagine. Our project was shortlisted nationally and is one of only 4 schools in Dublin to be awarded the AIB Future Sparks Exemplary School Award 2025/2026 in recognition of the extraordinary commitment shown by our students and school community.

While her achievements are many, it is perhaps her presence that will be remembered most warmly: the open door, the listening ear, the gentle encouragement and the unwavering belief in the goodness and potential of every student.

As she begins this new chapter, we thank her sincerely for the extraordinary contribution she has made to HCK and to the wider Society of the Holy Child Jesus community. Her legacy will continue to live on in the spirit of care, faith and service that she nurtured so faithfully over the past two decades.

We wish her every happiness and blessing in her retirement.
