It was great to see lots of familiar faces back on the hockey pitch on May 13 for the annual Past v Present hockey match. As usual, the team of Past Pupils boasted some real quality and were a tough opponent for the present team, despite not having a goalkeeper. In fact, the present team found the 11 outfielders difficult to break down, and after an even first quarter the past team took the lead, Leinster Senior Cup winning forward Sive McLoughlin slotting the ball in on the back post. The present team grew into the game but a swift counter attack finished by Abbie Russell put the Past Pupils further ahead, before Claire O'Reilly made it 3-0. This sparked the present players into life and they scored two in quick succession but it was too little too late and they could not find the equaliser leaving Past Pupil captain Bella Ryan to lift the trophy for a second year in a row.
